Bankruptcy

If you are having trouble keeping up with your bills and expenses and the creditors are bullying you, UHLLAW, PC, can help.  The thought of filing bankruptcy can be upsetting and overwhelming.  At UHLLAW, PC, Attorney Christopher Uhl and his paralegals remove the fear and distress of the demanding process of filing Bankruptcy.

At the initial consultation, clients will have an opportunity to discuss which type of bankruptcy is right for them and will be given a thorough explanation of the bankruptcy process.  Once a client decides to pursue Bankruptcy, UHLLAW, PC will guide the client through all the steps from the beginning to the end.  UHLLAW, PC is your bankruptcy team and will work with the Court and court-appointed bankruptcy trustee on your behalf.

There are two types of bankruptcy that UHLLAW, PC handles:

A Chapter 7 Bankruptcy is designed to give clients a “fresh start” by wiping out their debts such as credit cards and medical bills.  A bankruptcy will stop creditors from harassing and suing clients until their financial matters can be worked out with the efforts of their attorney, bankruptcy trustee, and the Court. A Chapter 7 will also discharge any deficiency following a mortgage foreclosure or vehicle repossession.

A Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is a repayment plan which consolidates clients’ debts into one payment to the Chapter 13 Trustee.  It is designed to help clients protect their homes from foreclosures or cars from repossession.  Clients pay their creditors’ past due amounts over time through the Trustee and keep current on the remaining home and car payments.  The repayment amount is determined by a client’s income, living expenses, number of family members in the home, the type of debt and amounts owed.
